Arspoetica
A computer program generates images through a heavily randomized digital process and gives them each a title and dimensions. This project was conceived and realized in collaboration with Olivain Porry.
Un programme informatique génère des images par un processus numérique contenant une grande part d'aléatoire, et donne à chacune un titre et des dimensions. Ce projet a été conçu et réalisé en collaboration avec Olivain Porry.
Through this project, we demonstrate that randomness has a capacity to produce aesthetically pleasing images, and with the addition of a title the resulting digital object can be mistaken for the product of a human. This result questions the role of artists regarding their potential quest of aesthetics, as well as the possibility of automating some form of creativity.
Nous démontrons à travers ce projet la capacité du phénomène aléatoire à produire des images esthétiquement séduisantes, et qu'avec l'ajout d'un titre, l'objet qui en résulte peut être pris pour le produit d'un être humain. Ce résultat questionne le rôle des artistes vis-à-vis de leur potentielle quête du "beau", ainsi que la possibilité d'automatiser certaines formes de créativité.
